Potpourri

Today’s post is a bit of everything all rolled into one as I’ve been traveling the last 5 days. This is my last night before I’m back home and able to get back on schedule with everything. I’m going through SERIOUS withdrawal not having time/being able to following everything online. I mostly use my social media channels (Twitter and Facebook) to stay up to date on political news, and check out a number of news website and apps during the day to keep up with everything. Driving between 10-13 hours a day has meant that I haven’t been able to keep up and it’s really frustrating!

One of the best things that’s happened on my ‘trip’ was connecting with a friend who I met through politics. She lives in Calgary now and I ended up crashing at her place. We haven’t seen each other in a few years, and yet the friendship is always there. We were in the Young Liberals together (many moons ago) and I find that this is the best thing about politics; the relationships you make. I’m so incredibly  grateful for the friendships I’ve made in politics.

The other part of my (very limited) time online was spent answering questions I got today. Sometimes, because friends of mine know I’m political, people post questions on Facebook or send me emails, texts, or instant messages to get clarification on issues or to ask me questions. I got a couple of those questions today. I find it extremely rewarding, because having those one-on-one conversations are what helps get the votes out.

The last part of today is something I wanted to share with you; Nirmala Naidoo, the Liberal Party of Canada candidate in Calgary Rocky Ridge, made this wonderful video that you have to go take a look at – she was inspired by the “Mean Tweets” segment. Check it out and let me know what you think!
