It’s a marathon, not a sprint

As you’ve seen in newspaper articles and blog posts, Facebook comments and Tweets, this election is unlike any other. It is a marathon, not a sprint, and we have 57 days to go. Sometimes, though this will be less and less common, there will be days when I get to take it easy. Even party leaders take time off to regroup sometimes!

It’s important to remember, that most people who work on campaigns do so as volunteers. They aren’t political staffers who are used to the cutthroat pace that accompanies election campaigns. For most people, life exists outside of politics (shocking, I know!) So aside from practicing and learning more about our data management system, it was a quiet day for me. I feel almost guilty for not having anything else to report!

I know that going forward, especially once I have finished my internship (2 weeks and counting!) I’ll be out working on our Manitoba campaigns on a more frequent basis. So I’m going to enjoy this day off and look forward to getting back out there, and helping to elect Liberal members to the House of Commons!
