You sometimes hear that the prairies are a Conservative stronghold or that it’s a lost cause for Liberals here; by the visits Manitoba gets, you wouldn’t believe that.

Right Honourable Paul Martin with YLC-M Presidents Alex Gilroy, Ben Carr, & Danielle Keenan
As a province, we really punch above our weight. If visits are any sign of how seriously the Liberal Party takes Manitoba chances, we are in good shape. In the last month alone, we’ve had 2 visits (with a third coming tomorrow) from Justin Trudeau, as well as a visit from former Prime Minister Paul Martin. In the last 12 months, we’ve had the following current & former Members of Parliament make the trek to Manitoba:
- Honourable Scott Brison
- Honourable Stephane Dion
- Chrystia Freeland
- Marc Garneau
- Honourable Ralph Goodale
- Honourable Dominic LeBlanc
- Honourable John McCallum
- Joyce Murray
- Adam Vaughn
- Honourable Bob Rae
Plus we’ve had at least 4 visits from Justin Trudeau! When you take a look at that list, it is pretty spectacular.
The Winnipeg Free Press published an article today where the former PM visited Jim Carr’s campaign office. “Jim Carr’s presence in Ottawa and in Parliament will be very important for our country.” If that’s not a ringing endorsement, I don’t know what is. And this is happening all over the country, with endorsement after endorsement coming in for the Liberal plan for #fairness and #realchange. Just this evening, Ontario’s Premier Kathleen Wynne announced her support for Justin Trudeau, calling him the next Prime Minister of Canada. In the coming days and weeks, I believe we’ll see more of that as people start to realize that the Liberal Party’s platform is the most comprehensive and that we have a plan to truly govern our great nation.
I’m proud of the team that the Liberal Party has put together in Manitoba – there are some outstandingly qualified people who will help return Canada to the place that we once held at home and abroad. Give these candidates a follow on Twitter. And if you can, please donate to their campaigns or sign up to volunteer. Every little bit helps.
